The NKPR Trenches

The billboard is up, the furniture is being moved and the appointments are being booked- we're T-Minus 6 days to the IT Lounge and I'm excited!
The energy is so positive and you can feel the buzz in the air.
Can you tell I love festival season?

So as most of you know, from September 9th to September 15th, our offices are being transformed into the IT Lounge, a celebrity gifting suite that gives back much more than IT gives out.
Fortunately (or possibly unfortunately to my team), my office was the first to be deconstructed, which meant I moved in to "the trenches" with the rest of the office.

Some key learnings from sitting in "the trenches":
-People don't love me blasting my music at 3:00 p.m.
in the afternoon
-Rather than grabbing someone's attention from across the room, I've learned that the appropriate etiquette is to call someone's extension
-Even better than calling someone's extension is to respond to their iChat messages
-Once it becomes late afternoon, someone will mention food and then everyone stops what they're doing to contribute to the discussion of what everyone should have as a snack (today it was leftover pizza and ice cream sandwiches)
-That no matter how busy everyone is right now, I work with the most fun, exciting and energetic team ever

I think I won't mind not having an office for the next few days...

Before I sign out, I want to remind everyone about our Follow for a Cause campaign.
For every new @natashankpr follower until September 15th, I will donate $1 to Artists for Peace and Justice to help fund schools in Haiti.

Have a great weekend!
xo Natasha

My official countdown to IT Lounge 2010!

Yah!!!
I’m so excited, there are only 15 days left until the opening of the IT Lounge, our annual celebrity-gifting suite.
This year is going to be our biggest and best Lounge yet and I’ll tell you why...

1) 5 Years, 15 Brands, 1 Cause and IT’s happening downtown

This is a milestone year for NKPR.
We are not only celebrating our fifth successful year hosting the IT Lounge but, we are also making a leap into the heart of the festival action by moving our Lounge into our sleek new office on Adelaide Street West.
We will now be located only a block from the Festival’s new headquarters and the hub of all the festival activities at the Bell Lightbox!

2) We Set the Scene

In partnership with star designer Yanic Simard and his Toronto Interior Design Group, we are transforming our NYC loft-style office into the ultimate pop-up store experience for celebrities!

Simard and his team have used their expertise and vision to create the perfect space to host each of the featured brands in the Lounge, including an entire room devoted to Fila that will allow celebrities to kick-back, listen to live music and check out key fashion apparel, footwear and accessories from the brands Fall 2010 collection.

In addition to our new IT Lounge space, we haven’t forgotten everyone making their way uptown during the festival!
NKPR has reserved our original room on the second floor of the Windsor Arms to act as a hub for the media, celebrities and publicists needing to relax, escape and nosh on Windsor Arms goodies, while catching a taste of the IT Lounge before they head back downtown for the full experience!

3) We want YOU to win IT!

All of our celebrity guests will be taking home featured products from Andrea Professionals, Ardell Lashes, Stila Cosmetics, Fila, Moroccanoil, Esprit, RW&CO., Sharpie, Goody, Dagmar Jewellery, Kobo eReader, Diane Lai skin care line, and enjoying FIJI Water and Baker Street desserts.

This year YOU can too:

Step 1: Visit our official IT Lounge website, click the contest tab and enter your email address.

Step 2: Follow me on Twitter to find out which featured IT Lounge items will be given away each day for the 15 days leading up to the Lounge.

Giveaways start today….

Birds of a Feather Tweet Together

Last week, NKPR played host to the beautiful Kaci Harabedian and Sarah Lucero from Stila cosmetics.
They flew in from L.A.
for a quick visit to show Canadian media the highlights from Stila’s new Fall and Holiday make-up collections.
Thankfully, I was able to catch the red eye from L.A.
so I could spend some time with the Stila team before they had to fly home.

Confession: I have discovered that Sarah and I are actually twins separated at birth.
It is true.
We have so much in common from our love of fashion designers, high-heeled shoes and online shopping to our signature fragrance.
Has that ever happened to you? It is unnerving and exciting at the same time!
Love her!!

The Scoop: I got a sneak peek of the new collections Stila will be launching in the coming season.
They are so much fun!
I won’t give too much away but, you can expect brighter, bolder colour palettes, long- wearing lip glosses and liners and another addition to the one-step makeup line that will make you glow!

Both Kaci and Sarah are beautiful, funny, charming women, but they are also incredibly talented makeup artists!
They had a chance to demonstrate their skills when a few celebrities dropped into the event to meet the dynamic duo.
Kaci and Sarah shared some pro-artist tips and tricks while giving mini-makeovers.
Check out the pics below to see some highlights from the event.

I can’t wait until these ladies are back in town for TIFF and Fashion Week….
but until then….at least we have twitter!!

Want more Stila? Follow me on twitter @natashankpr and stay-tuned for giveaways happening throughout September as I begin my countdown to IT Lounge 2010 and all things TIFF.

Xo Natasha

Highlights from Stila's Fall colllection

Actress Tara Spencer-Nairn & Celebrity Artist Sarah Lucero

Delicious cupcakes from The Designer Cookie, decorated in the seasons hottest colours

Celebrity Artist Sarah Lucero & Singer-Songwriter Chantal Kreviazuk

Lane Carlson's 28-mile SEAPaddle

This Friday, Ford model Lane Carlson will paddle a grueling 28-mile, six-hour course along the Hudson River as part of the SEAPaddle NYC fundraising event, an alliance committed to the preservation and protection of the environmental and cultural elements that are inherent to the sport of surfing.

Featured in high-profile campaigns for Armani, Abercrombie and Fitch, UGG and Phillips Van Heusen, Lane is a dedicated philanthropist and for every mile that he paddles, he will be raising funds and awareness for Surfers Environmental Alliance and Autism Awareness.
Post-paddle, Lane will be dealt in for the Texas Hold 'Em charity Poker event to benefit Sunflower Children, established in 2004 to help disadvantaged youth around the world overcome the burden of poverty and disease so that they can focus on their education.

What Lane is doing is so inspiring!
I love that he is using his platform as a Ford model to give back to the global community- it's so important that we all do what we can for charity.

To support Lane, please click here

To see what the Wall Street Journal had to say about this initiative, please click here

What do you think about Lane's paddle?
The Kiss...

What’s in a kiss? Lately, and I’m not sure why, but I’ve been obsessed with romance.
I think most people will agree that there is nothing quite like a passionate kiss.
I had so many positive responses to my last love-inspired post, I thought I’d continue on the trend and share my favourite kissing moments.
Time to kiss and tell…

1.
My favourite romantic kissing scene from a movie? Well I couldn’t stop at just one… so check out this video to see some of my favourites.

2.
My favourite type of lip lock? Has to be when a boy lovingly takes his girls face in his hands and leans in to steal a passionate smooch.

3.
My favourite pre-kiss quote from a movie comes from When Harry Met Sally.

Harry says “ I came here tonight because when you realize you want to spend the rest of your life with someone, you want the rest of your life to start now.”
How romantic is that?!

4.
This brings me to my final kissing moment.
It happened recently on the final episode of The Bachelorette.
It could have just been the mood I was in, but when Roberto kissed Ali before receiving the final rose, you could just feel the passion between them!
Am I right? So cute!

At the end of the day, I believe kissing is the means of bringing two people so close together that they can’t see anything wrong with each other.
What could be better than that? Whether you are with someone new or someone you’ve been with forever, don’t forget how important a kiss can be!
Now, go give someone special some love and share a kiss!!

What’s your favourite kissing moment/ movie make-out scene!
Tweet me @natashankpr
I’d like to add to my collection!

Have a romantic weekend,
xo Natasha

Tips on Finding Love

Okay time to dish on last night's Bachelorette.
I was really not surprised with Ali's choice.
You could tell on the very first episode how smitten she was when Roberto got out of the car.
She was so attracted to him!
Welcome to 2010, where you can meet "The One" on national television.

This morning, someone at the office joked, "I want to find love like Ali and Roberto's!" so I've decided to share my top 3 tips on finding love for the modern gal:

1.
The next time you're at a Starbucks, do the following three-step test.
a) Look down at his footwear.
If you think they pass, proceed.
b) Look up at his face.
If you think he's cute, proceed.
c) Look at his hand for a ring.
If he is wearing one, do not proceed.
If he is not, chat him up.

2.
Next time you're at a bar and you see someone cute, send him over a drink.
Enough with the waiting for him- he'll be impressed with the gutsiness involved in sending him over that Campari and Soda.

3.
Stop depending on your friends to make the first introduction!
If someone tells you they know someone they think you'd like, ask for his contact, and go for it.

What are some of your tips for dating? Tweet them to me @natashankpr

XO Natasha

With all the out-of-office messages I have been receiving, seems like most people have already started their vacation.

I'm not too far behind, just wanted to share a quick video that made me laugh.
This little guy is actually related to NKPR's own, Andrea Cooper.
She recently shared this video of her nephew Charlie with our office!
What better way to kick off a long weekend than a good giggle?

Hope you enjoy!
xo Natasha

Fierce Fashion Friday!

I’m already heading back to NYC.
The summer is flying, but before I call it a week and head back to one of my favourite spots in the world, I had to share our latest fashion Friday theme.
This week NKPR enjoyed a safari theme and the whole team showed their true colours, or should I say spots? Either way it was a great way to brighten up this dull-weather day!

We had exotic animal prints, cool khakis, inspiring tribal patterns, strappy snake-skin sandals and there were even a few authentic crocodile hunters.
My idea of safari chic is runway-inspired complete with light linen button downs, wooden accessories, aviators, a woven fedora and great heels.
Check out the picture below to see how wild things got around here today!

Now I’m trading one hectic place for another… good-bye NKPR Safari, hello NYC… bring on the concrete jungle.

Xo Natasha

Golf Season!

This summer, I have been totally into golf.
I am so excited to go to the Canadian Open this weekend.
The course is amazing, and it's the first time the Open is being held there in over 40 years.
So much history and tradition at St.
George's- I can't wait for Saturday!

My picks for this tournament are Mike Weir (Fingers crossed he can win his first Canadian Open) and Sean O'Hair (coached by a Canadian!)

I'm also loving that golfers have been spicing up their fashion.
Did you see John Daly's pants at the British Open last weekend? And I love Ian Poulter's style too!
Even Tiger showed some fashion flare at the British Open, opting for a purple striped polo.
I can't wait to see what's in store fashion-wise for the tournament this weekend!

Who is your favourite fashionable golfer?
XO Natasha

8 Weeks to TIFF

It is that time of year again!
Soon, the city of Toronto will welcome thousand's of Alist celebrities and media from around the world for the Toronto International Film Festival.
This is the second largest international film festival in the world and NKPR has been gearing up for TIFF 2010 for months now.
With only eight weeks to go, I'm beginning to get excited about all the things NKPR will be doing throughout the festival.

With all this in mind...here is what I am thinking about in preparation for TIFF 2010:

1.
"Dress to Impress"

There are so many events, parties and red carpets happening during TIFF.
I love seeing what everyone is wearing!
This year, I'm ahead of the game and have already begun planning my wardrobe.
My "go to" designers and festival staples will include:

Joeffer Caoc, Greta Constantine, RW&Co, Bottega Sunglasses, my prada leather leggings and my new, soon-to-be-favourite Brian Atwood boots.

2.
"Working up a Sweat"

Now that I have an idea what I'll be wearing during the festival, I also have new motivation to get fit!
I'm so lucky I work with brands like Brooks and Fila because having great gear makes me want to hit the pavement.
Did I mention my new, soon-to-be-favourite Brian Atwood boots are skin tight, thigh-high and zip-up the back of my leg? Hopefully eight weeks of running will make these boots fit perfectly!

3."Let the Tweet Fest Begin"

I have been obsessing over Twitter the last few months and planning the best ways to use it throughout the festival.
There are so many cool things happening around the city during TIFF.
I can't wait to share all the juciy details, hotspots and celebrity sightings with my followers.
Follow me @natashankpr for all the behind-the-scene scoop.

4.
"15 Brands, 5 Years, 1 Cause"

This TIFF is particularly important for NKPR because it will be our fifth successful year hosting the IT Lounge, our annual celebrity gifting suite at the Windsor Arms Hotel.
I can't wait to make this Lounge our biggest yet!
I'm so proud that the IT Lounge will benefit Artists for Peace and Justice!
After everything that has happened over the last year, I can't think of a better charitable partner.

Eight weeks and counting...

Have a great weekend,
xo Natasha

Six Months Ago...

Hi everyone,

Yesterday, July 12th, was the six month anniversary of the devastating earthquake in Haiti.
Artists for Peace and Justice is doing important in the country, focusing on education and medical treatments for children affected by the quake.
APJ is working directly with the people of Haiti to realize our goals, but there's still so much to do so it's really important that we don't forget about this long forgotten country.

Here is an amazing post from APJ Executive Board member Olivia Wilde:
http://wildethings.org/6-months-later

APJ Founder Paul Haggis reflects on the past six months:
http://watch.ctv.ca/etalk/highlights/etalk-highlights/#clip324457

Visit www.apjnow.org to learn more, or follow me on Twitter @natashankpr, where I will keep you posted with important APJ updates.

xo Natasha

Hot time, summer in the city!

Wow…heat wave!
How have you been coping?

The NKPR team has decided to embrace this summer weather by officially mandating that every Friday for the rest of the summer will be a "themed" day.
What better way to enjoy the warm weather than to dress down....in costume!
The office had fun with this week's nautical theme.
Everyone got into the spirit of the day.
We had everything from sassy sailors and fisherman chic to a classic yacht club look!
My idea of nautical is dark navy on black.
Check out the pictures to see some of the fun we had and stay tuned for next week’s theme.

Remember the summer’s you spent as a kid?!
They always seemed to last longer than they do now.
We wait the whole year for beautiful weather, why complain when it finally arrives? We just need to be prepared for the heat with a few essentials.

I have some quintessential staples that I need to truly enjoy the summer weather:

- I stay hydrated to keep cool and never leave the office or house without FIJI Water, my favourite bottled water!

-I keep Kiehl's sunscreen with me and wear face cream with SPF 15 everyday.

- Always wear extra goody hair elastics on my wrist.
Most women with long hair would agree that hair elastics are an essential summer accessory.

-Keep our office freezer is always stocked with ice cream sandwiches, fudgesickles and my favourite, creamsickles.
Who doesn't love cool ice cream on a hot day?

-My final summer staple is simple...great music!
I love to update my iPod with a couple "summer playlists".
There are always a few tunes that become your summer classics each year.
I can think of some that represent different summers for me, and where I was in my life.
You know you have a summer classic when you really don't mind listening to the song on 'repeat' all day long!
Right now I can't get enough of anything by Bryan Adams.

I'm always looking for great new music to add to my summer playlist, message me on Twitter with your favourite summer songs!
@natashankpr
I'd love to hear what's on your playlists.

xo Natasha

My new smooth hair!

For a long time, I've been trying to control the frizz on my naturally wavy hair.
Today, Salon Escape (www.salonescape.ca) got rid of my frizz forever (or, for at least 4 months!)!
I got the Keratin Complex Natural Smoothing Treatment by COPPOLA and I seriously cannot stop touching my hair, it is so silky and smooth!

At first I was a bit nervous because I had heard some rumours about the treatment, but Nicole Braithwaite (the head colourist at Salon Escape) is so knowledgeable and reassured me completely.
It seems that people have been confusing the Keratin Smoothing Treatment by Coppola with the Brazilian Keratin treatment, a less natural treatment that contains formaldehyde...ick.

Nikki explained that the Keratin Complex Natural Smoothing Treatment by COPPOLA revitalizes and rejuvenates up to 95% of frizz and curl by restoring and restructuring hair by infusing a special blend of natural keratin (what your hair is made of) deep into the cuticle.
I learned that I'll be able to wake up and have smooth hair and I will be able to eliminate the whole straightening process from my routine!
And the best part is that this treatment works for everyone: male or female, people with coloured or virgin hair, short or long hair and thick or thin hair.

Here are some before and after shots of me so you can see how amazing this treatment is!
I also did a live Twitter feed today while at the salon, so make sure to follow me @natashankpr and read some of the step-by-steps from today!

If you have any questions at all, please feel free to contact me at natasha@nkpr.net- I cannot stop raving about this treatment!
It's amazing!

xo Natasha

Happy Canada Day/Fourth of July!

Happy Canada Day and Happy Fourth of July weekend everyone!

This is the time to celebrate what we love most about our favourite countries.
Here's what I am paying homage to this weekend:

CANADA
-The people!
A huge shoutout to my three favourite Canadian "Rs", Ryan Reynolds, Ryan Gosling and Rose Crowther!
-The fashion: Canada has some truly inspirational talent that has placed our country on the international fashion radar- Greta Constantine, Joeffer Caoc, Phillip Sparks, Rita Liefhebber and Jay Godfrey to name a few...
-The New York Times Canadian Photo Archive: The images will take your breath way.
There are 24,000 images from the past century...this is our history.
It is a beautiful documentation of where we came from and who we are as Canadians and it makes me so proud that Toromagazine.com will be bringing a preview of these images, with curator Caitlin Cronenberg, to this year's TIFF.
-The poutine: All I can say is yumm...It's a problem that Smoke's Poutinerie is so close to the NKPR offices...

US
-The food: Because to me, NYC is the food capital of the United States, whether it be the pizzeria on the corner or a meal at Lure (my new favourite New York restaurant!), everything is amazing!
-The department stores: Nothing compares to Neiman Marcus, Saks, Barneys, Bergdorf's and Bendels!
-Apple: One of my favourite companies ever.
Everything is so sleek, easy to use and practical.
The latest quotes on my Twitter account (@natashankpr)? All from one of my 3 quotes apps- I love my iPad!

I'm spending this weekend in New York, but will show my Canadian pride this Sunday as I cheer on the Jays while they play the Yankees at Yankee Stadium!
How are you celebrating your favourite country?

xo Natasha

Preview in the Park

It was a chilly, but beautiful day at the Adventure Park for our media launch event.
Today, we hosted a media day in Barrie for our sneak preview of Horseshoe Resort’s new Adventure Park.
This place is pretty awesome!
The way I see it, there are 4 types of Adventurers and the new park has something for EVERYONE!

For the Timid Beginner: practice your short game on the Ridgetop mini-golf course or enjoy the downhill tubing course in both summer and winter.

For the Brave Trailblazer: grab a bike and head for the downhill mountain biking course or skate park to try some tricks.

For the Thrill Seeker: enjoy the view from the tree tops while you trek through the aerial ropes course, climb in a zorbing ball and go for a roll or scale the Park’s rock-climbing wall.

Finally for the Adrenaline Junkie: take a ride on Horseshoe’s new high tech.
zipline, where you will fly through the trees at 45 kilometers per hour.

As for me, I think those who know me would agree that most days you would find me playing on the mini putt course.

How about you?

The Adventure Park officially opens Thursday July 1st, just in time for Canada Day!
Enjoy…

XO Natasha

NKPR Turned 8!

We had so much fun celebrating our 8th Birthday on Tuesday with a Kick A** party!
What could be better than spending time with all of our favorite people!!

We spent the whole night munching on mouth-watering food (LOVED the Mac and Cheese from Noble Culinary Creations), sipping on yummy cocktails (My choice? The One Night Lemonade Stand with X-Rated Fusion Liqueur), and in classic NKPR fashion, the best sweet table ever – loved the Baker Street Apple Pies..MMM!!!

Everyone loved the music thanks to Justin, our DJ from Sole Power Productions and were dancing to the old school hip hop thanks to our incredible guest DJ Amy Verner.

NYC and Stila

Back in NYC!
Finally!!
I love this city, but travelling does take a toll.
Packing my clothes is the easiest part of the whole process.
I start with black Diesel jeans and pair them with my new favourite travel shirt from RW&CO.
Next, I add two black dresses (one from Joeffer Caoc, the other Greta Constantine), throw in a few Chanel accessories and complete the outfit with a pair of heels.
My newest obsessions are Pierre Hardy gladiator sandals and Lanvin peep-toe pumps, both in black.
Done.
If only everything was so simple...

I’ve become a much better packer since moving both my office and house in the same month but streamlining my travel makeup bag wasn’t as easy.
I know I’m not alone.
Even if you haven’t been forced to pick your top 10, ‘can’t survive without’ products while trying to catch a plane, you probably know what I’m talking about.
Women have drawers and bags filled with half-used products, too expensive to just throw away.
Well, this week I found the solution for my overstuffed travel bag and I feel inspired to share it!

When Stila Cosmetics became one of our newest brands, I had no idea my cosmetic kit would be the item that got the biggest makeover, but I am so grateful!

Along with a few other key Stila products, I’ve just discovered their One Step makeup collection and I’m hooked.
What girl doesn’t want to walk off the plane, glowing? I’m just not willing to spare the room in my purse or the time priming, concealing and powdering to get that look.

Stila has taken the work out of great skin and now has a permanent place in my makeup routine and my carry-on.
The One Step face makeup combines a primer, foundation, concealer and powder in an airport-security-approved, travel-size bottle.
This 4-in-1 makeup is made from 100% natural mineral pigments, controls oil and hydrates without feeling heavy.
I don’t even have to reapply it after running around the city in the summer heat, before heading to a business dinner.
So, I have tossed my old products and made extra room in my bag with this single multi-tasking make-up!
Done.

Next step… simplifying my travel….schedule??...
maybe not.

What is your must-have summer beauty secret?

Young Women of Influence

Happy Monday!

How excited are you to see the Sex and the City 2 movie? I love the Halston dress that Carrie wears in the promo shots- I can't wait to see all the other outfits!

In celebration of the release of the film, I will be speaking at the Young Women of Influence "Success and the City 2" event.
I was honoured to be given the opportunity to act as the keynote speaker for the event.
I am thrilled to be able to speak to so many amazing women who are already achieving so much at such a young age.

What I love about the girls from Sex and the City (besides their clothing!) is the inspiring female bonding.
I love these women.
They are strong and they know what they want and though they may not know how to get there, they keep trying.
Like Carrie says, "As we drive along this road called life, occasionally a gal will find herself a little lost.
And when that happens, I guess she has to let go of the coulda, shoulda, woulda, buckle up, and just keep going."

I encourage you to come to the Success and the City 2 event.
After I speak, there will be a networking reception and a private viewing of the Sex and the City 2 movie.
For more information or to get tickets, visit http://www.youngwomenofinfluence.ca

Enjoy the sunny weather!
xo N

The High Pony

How excited are you for the long weekend? I am so happy it's going to be nice weather.
I can't wait to be able to go for a long run outside and to go for brunch on a patio!

In the spirit of the warmer weather, everyone in the office has been really busy making trend reports for the summer.
Best summer skin product? The Kiehl's Super Fluid UV Defense SPF 50.
Best form of hydration? Why, FIJI water of course, with its naturally occurring electrolytes.
How to get the sexiest legs? After running with the new Brooks DNA shoe, complement your toned legs with Andrea Professionals Wax Strips for the Body.

Here at NKPR, we've really latched on to the hottest hair trend for the summer- the high pony!
We've all been huddling together to decide how we perfect our ponytails.
Personally, I love the secure feel of the Goody Custom Fit Elastics.
I have really thick hair so I love that I can customize the elastic to fit me just right and that the elastic doesn't stretch!
Other ideas have been the glam pony (securing the hair back with a Goody Colour Collection elastic), the retro pony (a super high ponytail secured with a Goody Scrunchie) and the girly pony (a high ponytail complemented with a Goody Ouchless Flex Headband).

How do you wear your pony?

Have a great holiday!
xo Natasha

Hot Topics at NKPR

Happy Friday!!!

I wanted to share some of the hot topics of the week at NKPR.

1) Waxing for Women
So I am loving Andrea Professionals' new Wax Strips for the body and am amazed with how well they work!
DIY waxing has just freed up so many hours in my schedule, which means more time for reality television (see #3).
And my legs are always smooth!
They're available at Walmart, Loblaws and London Drugs.

2) To Scrunchie or not to Scrunchie?
Remember that episode of Sex and the City where Carrie says that nobody from Manhattan would wear a scrunchie? Well they are making a comeback people!
At our recent Goody event, we were debating on whether or not the Scrunchie was cool and surprisingly, many women in our office still sport them (most in private, but still!)

3) Bachelor Withdrawal
I am going crazy without the Bachelor!
Seriously!
Everyone in our office is in such Bachelor withdrawal that to satisfy our Bachelor cravings, we've been talking our favourite older seasons.
My favourite was with the Bachelor Jason, especially at the end when he changed his mind between women.

4) NKMM
My secret confession? If I wasn't in PR, I would be a professional matchmaker (NKMM- NK Match Making).
When I meet someone that seems great, I always ask if they're single or not so that I can go through the rolodex in my head to find out who they'd be a fit with.
I work in an office with the most beautiful, intelligent and coolest people in this city, many of whom happen to be single.
If you know of someone fabulous, let me know so I can set them up with one of our fabulous NKPRers!

5) Sandra Sympathy
We know that it's already been weeks since the affair broke, but we're still all feeling for Sandra.
She's an exceptional woman and actress and there's no doubt that she's on to bigger and better.
Sandra remains on our A-list.

Would love to hear your thoughts on all of this.
E-Mail me at natasha@nkpr.net and let me know what you think.

Have a great weekend from me and Rae
xo Natasha

Swing into Spring

Where has the week gone? Despite this rainy and cold weather NKPR enjoyed some fun, spring-inspired activities this week!!
Here are just a few of the things that got me through this dreary April weather.

• Our welcome to the neighborhood: There has been no shortage of treats flooding into our office since we arrived on Adelaide!
Delicious chocolate brownies, Easter eggs, mini-cupcakes and flowers are just a sample of what we have enjoyed this week.
Thanks everyone!
A BIG thank you to our team of contractors from Arguson Project Inc. for making our office so beautiful!

• Getting into the swing of things: This week the theme around the office has been…golf.

The cold, damp weather couldn’t keep Rick Betts and I from showing we were “At Our Best” at the Polson Pier Driving Range this week.
We each grabbed our clubs and a basket of balls to get in shape for our annual golf day in support of “At My Best”, happening June 24th at Rattlesnake Point.

Join NKPR to make difference with Camp Oochigeas in the life of a child affected by childhood cancer

NKPR and friends proudly support
Camp Oochigeas
Support us and help make a difference in the life of a child affected by childhood cancer.

Hi there,

It's that time of year again - I'm replacing my heels with sneakers and participating in the Sporting Life 10K Fundraising Challenge in support of Camp Oochigeas.

Sunday, May 2nd
Camp Oochigeas is a charitable organization that is very near to my heart.
I first became involved over 4 years ago when I was introduced by a client of mine, Kiehl's.
I went to visit the camp and had the opportunity to meet with the courageous campers and extraordinary volunteers.

The experience completely changed my life; I am continually inspired and determined to provide as many young children as possible the opportunity to attend this magical camp.

Last year we raised $20,000 and this year we hope to raise $25,000.
We need your support.

Top 10 For 2010!

WE’RE HERE!
I’ve only been in the new office a week and it already feels like home!
I’m still trying to get used to all the extra SPACE.
This move has forced me to do serious spring cleaning but, it has also given me an opportunity to reflect on all the things that I’m excited about for 2010.
In no particular order, here are my Top 10 for 2010:

1.
NKPR’s new home on Adelaide West is up and running!
I’m so grateful to all the people that made this move a smooth transition.
Some of my favourite new furniture came from Ital Interiors in Toronto.
(http://www.italinteriors.com/a.php ) I’ve fallen in love with more than a few pieces from there.
Stay tuned for an upcoming blog with all the pics from our new home!

2.
Location, Location, Location: Our new office is across from the Festival Tower which will be ideal during TIFF and I have Thai chicken bites, authentic Italian meatballs, and gourmet chocolate treats all within walking distance.
What more could I ask for?

3.
My new Brooks Glycerin 8 running shoes with DNA technology (http://www.brooksrunning.ca/)
These shoes are amazing!
I’ve been training in them over the last couple of weeks to get ready for the Sporting Life 10K in support of Camp Ooch, happening May 2nd.
If you haven’t heard about DNA technology, you will soon!
For the first time this technology allows for a completely custom fit by adapting to the weight distribution and strength of each runner’s stride.
Don’t just take my word for it, try them for yourself!

4.
Gearing up for CONTACT – the largest photography festival in the world sponsored by Scotiabank.
Exhibits run throughout May in venues across the city.
I was so excited to hear about David LaChapelle’s involvement in this year’s festival.
I can’t wait to check out some the exhibits.
I might find something to add to the gallery we have started in our new office, which already includes two pieces by our own in-house artist Lizzie Vickery.

5.
The Apple iPad.
I have mine on pre-order!

6.
Meeting Olympic gold medalist Tessa Bonhomme.
What an amazing woman!
She brought her 2010 Vancouver Olympic gold medal with her to our office.
The medal itself weighs over a pound…imagine that hanging from your neck!

7.
Award-winning Canadian designer- Joeffer Caoc.
I love his new collection!
His designs are feminine, sleek and tailored.
Check it out for yourself (http://www.joeffercaoc.com/) He is definitely someone to keep on your radar!...

8.
Being involved with Artists for Peace and Justice.
It was incredible to see the support and generosity everyone has shown and continues to show the people of Haiti.
Let’s keep the momentum going!

9.
New York artist Peter Tunney.
I’ve just picked up another piece by him (see below).
I love finding new art that inspires me!

10.
The song “Come On Get Higher” by Matt Nathanson
“I miss the sound of your voice
I miss the rush of your skin
I miss the still of the silence…as you breathe out and I breathe in

If I could walk on water
If I could tell you what’s next
Make you believe…make you forget”

I love those lyrics…

Have you started your Spring cleaning yet?
Heading out to enjoy this beautiful weather, have a great weekend!

Today is the big day!
I can't believe how empty it looks in here!!
So many years worth of things packed up into boxes.
I've been having the hardest time deciding what comes with me and what stays behind.
I feel so attached to everything!
Can you tell I'm feeling emotional?

As sad as I am to leave this office, our new place is looking amazing and everyone is so excited to move in.
Here are some pics of us in the new space.

Have a wonderful weekend.
I'll blog again later with pictures once we're all settled!
xo Natasha

Kiehl's Midnight Recovery Concentrate

Am I the only one who is still feeling the effects of Daylight's Savings? I guess I shouldn't complain- I am really happy about how sunny it is in the evenings...Hope it's sunny tomorrow!

Speaking of sleeping, I am loving the new Kiehl's Midnight Recovery Concentrate!
It recently arrived in Kiehl's stores and I have been hooked on it since.
It is Kiehl's first nighttime product, and it repairs the skin's natural lipids overnight.
It's made of essential and botanical oils, including Evening Primrose and Lavender which is really therapeutic and perfect for bedtime.
I also love that it is 99% naturally-derived and paraben-free.
You only use 2 drops and it makes such a difference.
And the bottle is pretty too ;)

I've actually found that it works so well when I pair it with the Powerful Strength Line Reducing Concentrate, which is part of the Kiehl's Dermatologist Solutions collection, a collaboration created between Kiehl's and leading dermatologists and scientific experts in the field of dermatology.
The Powerful Strength Line-Reducing Concentrate contains 10.5% of Pure Vitamin C!!
Paired with the essential oils from the Midnight Recovery, my skin feels AMAZING when I wake up..

One week until our big office move.
There are boxes everywhere!
I can't wait.
Any moving tips for me?

Speak soon
xo Natasha

National Nutrition Month

Almost everyone makes New Year's resolutions to maintain a healthier life in January (I know I did!), but life gets busy and it gets hard to maintain the regimen you may have planned to keep!

March is National Nutrition Month, and the At My Best children's wellness program (www.atmybest.ca), developed in partnership between AstraZeneca Canada and Physical and Health Education Canada, supports kids in learning about the importance of physical activity, proper nutrition and emotional well-being.
It's truly an amazing program!!
Almost half a million kindergarten to grade 3 students and their families will be introduced to At My Best this year!

I wanted to pass along a few simple tips that will help you build a foundation for a healthier family.
Researchers say that encouraging kids to make informed eating choices now helps them establish patterns for healthy living that they'll carry into adulthood.
I suggest that you read through these tips and try to incorporate them into your own daily lives!
Being healthy can be fun!

1.
Have a sit down family meal at least once a day.
It’s a great way to catch up on day-to-day events, and an opportunity to introduce new foods to picky eaters.
The more they see the family enjoying different foods together, the more likely they are to try it themselves.

2.
Be a role model for your kids by eating healthy yourself.
Stock up on a variety of nutritional snacks such as yogurt and fruit so nutritious choices are readily available.

3.
For the most important meal of the day, forget sugar-filled breakfast cereals.
Try a bowl of oatmeal with a few fresh berries, or whip up some simple scrambled eggs.
Pressed for time? A nutritious breakfast smoothie can be enjoyed on the way to school.

4.
Go to the market together.
Involving your kids in the process can get them excited for mealtime, and asking them to help prepare meals can help them to be more willing to eat new foods or recipes.
Letting them brag about the dinner they made will be an incentive to eat it.

Do you know of any other healthy suggestions? I'd love to hear them!

APJ Brunch

I can't believe it's already February!
Where did January go? I have a lot to catch you up on!

On January 24th, Artists for Peace and Justice held a brunch in L.A.
for two purposes: first, to get emergency relief to the children of Haiti and second, to raise money for long-term relief so that Haiti will not once again be forgotten as soon as it is out of the news.
It was incredible.
One hundred friends and supporters of APJ pledged to support the disaster-stricken nation over the next five to ten years, committing funds to building and funding schools in a country where most children don't have access to basic education.

Paul Haggis and Maria Bello literally jumped out of their car, arriving directly from the airport, "with the sands of Haiti spilling from their pockets." Among many others, some of the people who were already at the brunch was Charlize Theron (wearing a stunning yellow patterened dress!), Nicole Kidman, Penelope Cruz and Javier Bardem, Marcia Cross, Robert DeNiro, Demi Moore and Seth Green.
Two Bonds, Daniel Craig and Pierce Brosnan, were there, sitting across from each other, which was really quite a sight!
Macy Gray performed "I Try", Sheryl Crow sang "Everyday is a Winding Road", Moby did a rendition of "Ring of Fire" and Jackson Browne performed as well.

The event was really moving.
Everyone was so generous.
Anna Lynne McCord was gracious and pledged to give $10,000 for 10 years.
Sean Penn wasn't able to attend, but called Paul Haggis personally to pledge $50K a year for 5 years towards building schools in Haiti.
Other celebrities who pledged $50K a year for 5 years included Penelope Cruz, Javier Bardem, Nicole Kidman, Daniel Craig, Gerard Butler and Simon Barker and his wife Rebecca Rigg.

A huge thank you to Paul Haggis and his wife Deborah, who were so gracious to open up their homes and hearts to host this event.
I've posted some photos from the event below.
I encourage you to visit http://www.artistsforpeaceandjustice.com to learn more and to donate- every little bit helps and they need us now more than ever.

Hope you're having a great week!
Speak soon.
XO Natasha

Crisis in Haiti

As I'm sure many of you have heard, there was a severe earthquake in Haiti yesterday.
The people of Haiti have been devastated by a magnitude 7.0 earthquake that has just hit 10 miles west of Haiti's capital, Port-au-Prince.
Details are still emerging but with Haiti's delicate infrastructure, already the destruction is immense in the poorest country in the western hemisphere.
Father Rick Frechette, head of APJ for Haiti, who has single handedly built a children's hospital, 18 street schools and numerous street clinics, and provides clean drinking water and food daily to the inhavitants of the poorest slums in Port-au-Prince, has reported that his hospital in Petionville at the epicenter of the quake has collapsed.
Additionally, the St.
Damien Pediatric Hospital, the Francisville Trade School, and Kay SAint Germaine Rehabilitation Center have all been horribly damaged.

Homes lie destroyed, people are stranded away from their family, and many affected Haitians are in desperate need of medical attention.
We need to help.
Your donation will go directly to Father Rick for rescue efforts for emergency medical aid, water and food, and other crucial relief efforts.

PLEASE Make a difference by donating as much as you can today to help save lives.
Click the General Donation button on this page.
100 PERCENT of ALL funds raised goes to Father Rick Frechette and Haiti rescue efforts.

Please follow APJ on Twitter: http://twitter.com/artistsforpeace

NKPR Holiday Party

We had the best time at our holiday party on Friday!!!
We all promised to have our work done by 4 p.m.
so that we could have ample time for our Secret Santa gift exchange.
Check out the video below of me giving the best gift ever!!!
I guess I have to give an honourable mention to Kelvin whose gift was ALMOST as good as mine.
He gave Stefani the most thoughtful and creative homemade coupon book.
While we opened presents we had some festive cocktails and listened to a collaborative playlist featuring all of our holiday faves: Mariah Carey's "All I Want for Christmas Is You", Bob Dylan's "The Little Drummer Boy", Madonna's "Santa Baby", Glee's "Last Christmas", Adam Sandler's "Hannukah Song" and Lady Gaga's "Bad Romance".

When we were finished the Secret Santa, and Stef had finished doing everyone's hair in the pop-up Goody Salon in the NKPR offices, we made our way over to Ki for a super delicious dinner- love the food there (www.kipjapanese.com).
A fantastic night with an amazing group of people.
Check out some of the pics below.

What are your plans for the holidays?
XO Natasha

Sip for a Cause Part III

The Sip for a Cause event has come to an end...what a great day it was.
Second Cup at Empress Walk sold over $2,000 worth of beverages to be donated to Camp Oochigeas.
On top of the beverages, all of our incredible performers donated 100% of the sales of their CDs from the day to Camp Ooch.
It was nice to see so many Second Cup customers connect strongly with the cause and made donations above and beyond their beverage purchase, which ended up totaling over $500.
I really wasn't expecting to feel as emotional as I did.
Seeing everyone coming together during the holidays, not to mention the personal stories that individuals were sharing with me, was so moving.
I really believe that, together, we can make a difference in this big world of ours...whether it is one coffee purchase at a time...or volunteering your time - do what you can!

I want to give a huge thanks to everyone who helped make this day possible.
Second Cup for hosting the event and donating their beverage sales, Camp Oochigeas for doing what they do and all of the incredible performers who are now filling up my iTunes library (Jesse Labelle, Cat Tatusny, Ryan Casselman, Allister Bradley, Bunmi Adeoye, Dave Borins, Maddy Rodriguez and Victoria Di Giovanni).
Also a huge thank you to the media who helped get the word out for the cause: CityTV, The North York Mirror, CHFI 98.1, Snap North York, Toronto Star and BlogTO.

It's our office holiday party tonight- sooo excited.
I know that I am giving the best secret santa gift EVER!!
Will share all the dets in my next blog post!!

XO Natasha

The ARI Suit Unveiling

I worked from NYC last week and there was certainly a lot going on!

We held an event for the unveiling of the ARI suit.
For those of you not familiar with ARI SoHo, it literally is the best-kept secret in Manhattan for designer menswear.
Since 2001, owner and founder Moshe Ben-Ari has been fitting Wall Street executives, VIPs, and athletes and celebrities such as Jeremy Piven, Jon Bon Jovi, Usher and San Antonio Spurs' Tony Parker, to name a few.
Not only did ARI unveil the incredible suit, Ari's 10 must-have items for men were featured: Ties, Handkerchiefs/Scarves, Belts, Leather Goods, Suits, Wallets, Jeans, Shirts, Footwear and Coats.
The event was really well-attended and all the men loved the Italian-designed and handmade pieces.

Other highlights of this trip so far have been hearing Diane Birch perform at the City Winery .
She is so incredible!
My newest fave song is "Forgiveness" - download it here!I had the BEST chicken salad of all time at Serafina.
It came with pesto dressing and was sooo good!!
I took advantage of the mild weather and took a walk on the highline.
Over the course of this trip I have also become obsessed with Molton Brown candles, especially the black pepper scent!)

Check out some photos below from our ARI event

Happy December!
XO Natasha

Komisarek Kids Club

To support Camp Oochigeas, Toronto Maple Leafs defenceman Mike Komisarek has created the Komisarek Kids Club at the Air Canada Centre.
Camp Oochigeas is an amazing charity that we've had the pleasure of working with that allows kids with cancer to just be kids again and experience the magic of summer camp in Muskoka.
We are so glad we could help them out with this.

Over 50 campers will enjoy an amazing night watching the Leafs at the ACC for 7 games this season.

Mike was in the suite for the entire game signing autographs and taking pictures.
